A space for sound, presence, and lived care.

Welcome to the World of Vibroacoustic Therapy!

My name is April Thomas, and I am a Vibroacoustic Therapist.

I began this work as a caregiver for my mother, who is living with dementia. While searching for ways to improve her quality of life, I discovered sound and vibration therapy—also known as vibroacoustic therapy.

I tried it with her one evening and saw a shift overnight.

Since then, I’ve continued using it with her, and I’ve seen more moments of presence, connection, and clarity than we were experiencing before. That experience led me to begin working with others—including you! - supporting the body in settling, reconnecting, and responding differently.

What Is VibroAcoustic Therapy (VAT)?

VibroAcoustic Therapy (VAT) uses specially designed low-frequency sound vibrations combined with therapeutic music to support relaxation, nervous system regulation, and overall well-being.

During a session, sound vibrations are delivered through the body, creating a deeply immersive sensory experience that may help encourage physical relaxation, mental calm, and restorative balance.

VAT is often used as a supportive wellness practice for individuals seeking:

  • Stress reduction

  • Relaxation

  • Recovery support

  • Improved body awareness

  • Nervous system downregulation

Rather than forcing the body to do something unnatural, VAT helps create conditions where the body can return to a more regulated state.

LifeTone Studio approaches VAT as a wellness support modality—not a medical treatment—and each experience is personalized to the individual.

This work may be supportive for individuals experiencing:

  • Alzheimer’s Dementia and neurological conditions

  • Chronic stress and anxiety

  • Physical tension and pain (back, knee, muscle tightness)

  • Fatigue and nervous system overwhelm

  • Athletic recovery and reset

Potential Benefits of VibroAcoustic Therapy

Scientific and clinical studies have demonstrated VibroAcoustic Therapy’s potential to support:

  • Deep relaxation

  • Stress reduction

  • Nervous system regulation

  • Muscle relaxation

  • Recovery support

  • Enhanced circulation

  • Improved restfulness

  • Supportive rehabilitative care

VAT has been studied across therapeutic, rehabilitative, and wellness settings as a complementary modality that may help improve regulation, resilience, and overall quality of life.

At LifeTone Studio, VAT is offered through a personalized, evidence-informed approach that supports the body’s natural capacity for restoration and balance.

What Happens During a VAT Session?

VAT is conducted while you are fully clothed. During the session, you sit or lie down directly on a specially designed device (lounge, chair, etc.), embedded with transducers that transmit specific frequencies into vibrations. Therapy lasts about 25 minutes. After the session is complete, you can review the outcome with your therapist and fine-tune the therapy to maximize the benefits of your course of treatment.

Limitations of VibroAcoustic Therapy

Vibroacoustic therapists do not diagnose medical conditions, nor do they cure diseases or conditions. Always consult with your physician before starting any treatment program. As is the case with all modalities, there is no way to guarantee results. What we can say is that VAT, like most therapies, is most effective when done with consistency. Repetition is required to receive desired results.

VAT therapists do not treat people with very low blood pressure, thrombus, PTSD, or a history of psychosis. Also, while no problems have ever been reported, we prefer to err on the side of caution by not administering VAT to pregnant women in the first trimester.

I could actually feel the vibrations right in the spots on my spine where the arthritis is especially bad. What a relief!” I.B., Simcoe

“For years I had no feeling down the outer side of my right leg. After 4 treatments, not only could I feel my leg and foot, I could wiggle my pinky toe! Amazing.” S. L., Toronto

“I feel a real difference in my ability to stand up without struggling since doing the treatments. I’ve also reduced my blood pressure medication!” H.T., Toronto

“I wish I’d learned about this sooner. Since I’ve been taking the VAT treatments, I am regaining function and feeling in my left arm, something I’d not been able to achieve with standard physiotherapy after my stroke. It’s made a big difference. ” N.B., Toronto
