Dementia VAT Initial Series
Dementia VAT Initial Series
A research-informed vibroacoustic therapy series for individuals living with dementia or cognitive impairment
The Initial Series uses a 12-session baseline drawn from published research using repeated vibroacoustic therapy with people experiencing dementia or cognitive impairment. LifeTone uses that research as the starting framework while tailoring the timing and frequency of sessions to the individual when appropriate.
Published research provides the foundation for LifeTone’s 12-session starting series.
Repeated sessions provide the therapeutic exposure used in the research while also giving LifeTone and the family an opportunity to track the individual’s response across the series and identify patterns that may help guide continued support.
Why 12 Sessions?
Once a family decides to begin the Initial Series, the process starts with a detailed intake and baseline conversation.
The intake includes relevant medical and cognitive history, current diagnoses and health considerations, medications and recent medication changes, sleep and daily patterns, current level of function, communication and engagement, caregiver observations, and the family’s priorities for the series.
Together, these provide a starting picture of the individual before VAT begins.
The series generally starts at approximately three 45-minute sessions per week.
Throughout the series, LifeTone reviews the individual’s response during and between sessions and incorporates caregiver observations. Session timing or frequency may be adjusted when the emerging response suggests that a different interval may be more appropriate.
If an adjustment would result in additional or fewer sessions, any resulting change in cost or payment terms will be discussed and finalized before the revised plan is implemented.
How the Series Works
Initial intake and baseline assessment
12 45-minute dementia-focused VAT sessions
Caregiver input and coordination
Response tracking throughout the series
Documentation and review of patterns
Post-series family review
Recommendations for appropriate next steps
What’s Included
More Than Session Time
The $1,170 investment reflects both the VAT sessions and the professional work that supports the series.
12 VAT sessions — $1,020
Intake, tracking, caregiver coordination, documentation, and post-series review — $150
Total — $1,170*
Together, these components create a structured initial process: establishing a baseline, completing the research-informed series, documenting response over time, and using what we learn to help shape the next phase of support.
*Flexible payment options may be available at checkout. If you prefer to spread the cost over several months, look for Affirm among the available payment methods. Financing availability and terms vary by customer eligibility.
What Happens After the Initial Series?
After the series is completed, LifeTone conducts a post-series review with the family.
This conversation brings together the session documentation, caregiver observations, changes noticed during or between sessions, and any patterns that emerged across the series. LifeTone and the family review what appeared meaningful, what remained unchanged or inconsistent, and what the overall response may suggest about continued VAT.
From there, LifeTone makes individualized recommendations for next steps.
Depending on the individual’s response and the family’s circumstances, that may include:
Home VAT continuity
A customized continuation plan
Continued practitioner-supported VAT
A combination of home and practitioner support
Pausing or concluding VAT
The next phase is determined after the Initial Series so that continued support reflects the individual rather than a predetermined schedule.
Making Space for What May Still Be Possible
The Initial Series is not about promising a particular outcome.
It is about giving your loved one a structured opportunity to respond — and giving your family enough time to notice what may be changing, emerging, or becoming possible.
At the end of the series, LifeTone reviews what was observed with you and discusses what, if anything, makes sense to explore next.
The goal is not to assume what remains possible. It is to create enough space and time to find out.
Because dementia does not get to have the last word.
